Welcome to my website. It is currently under construction. I will be adding content and details over the next few weeks.
I’m Mary Lynn Wagner, your Colorado House of Representatives District 23, candidate. I am running because HD23 and Colorado need New Leadership, New Ideas, and Real Change!
Before I get into the THE ISSUES, and why we need new ideas and real change, here is a little personal information about your HD23 candidate:
In 1983, we packed our life up into 35 boxes and moved our three young children and a Samoyed dog, from my birthplace, lovely Hawaii, to gorgeous Colorado. We arrived on Labor Day, in time to experience light October snow, (The first time I'd seen snow!), the Thanksgiving blizzard (with about 30 inches of snow!), and the December DEEP FREEZE, the coldest December on record, by far. While our Samoyed loved it, we spent the first few months questioning the sanity of our decision. However, we love gorgeous Colorado and have resided in what is now House District 23, since 1986. While I am obviously not a native, moving here from Hawaii should count for a few extra Brownie points!
I’m a proud mother of three wonderful, grown children, all Colorado residents. Two graduated from Golden HS. I’m also grandmother to five little wonders, whom I helped raise while two of my children went through difficult times. I still help out - when I’m not out campaigning.
I am a Colorado certified elementary school teacher, have taught full time on and off in various schools, neighborhood, public parent-run charter and private schools, over about twenty years.
For the last 5 years, I’ve been a Jefferson County substitute teacher and have taught in many of the schools in HD23. Substitute teaching allowed me to spend time with and care of my mom, who recently lost her valiant fight against cancer.
My husband and I just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary! I love to horseback ride, and we like to hike, target shoot, and explore beautiful Colorado. I've been an NRA member for several years!
I have a horse, three dogs, a cat, a rabbit, a parakeet, and a rescued pigeon. Our yard is a registered National Wildlife Federation habitat – although we could do without the skunk that keeps wandering by to see if the dogs have eaten all their food.
Unlike many politicians who won't even tell you what party they belong to, let alone how they stand on issues, I believe in complete disclosure. I supported and voted for Ronald Reagan in 1984, and have been a registered Republican ever since. The Republican Party has drifted away from Reagan's ideals just as the Democratic Party has from JFK's. In short, I am a fiscal and social conservative and take a public stand on THE ISSUES that impact HD23 and Colorado.
What you see on the website is what you will get when I am elected. I will not tell you one thing to get elected, and then vote another way after elected. I bring new leadership, new ideas, and real change. If you agree it is needed, I would greatly appreciate your vote and support.
